Central Florida gets hot in the summer. You can expect temperatures in the mid 80’s, but if you are in Orlando and vicinity there are a number of water parks where you can cool off and have a lot of fun at the same time. Let’s take a look at some of the best water parks in the Orlando area.

Wet ‘n Wild Orlando is the most visited water park in the USA according to “Amusement Business” magazine, and its world-class rides and slides are the reason behind its popularity.

The park features multi-million dollar rides, the newest of which is the Brain WashTM in which you climb the walls of the six-story extreme tube ride with a 53-foot vertical drop into the 65-foot domed funnel. Guests are “brain washed” with lights, sounds and video as they swirl back and forth through mind altering thrills before threading the needle-nose funnel to a refreshing escape.

Other rides at Wet’n Wild include The Surge, Bubba Tub, Black Hole, Disco H2O™ and The Blast! Guests can also drift under rope bridges and past breathtaking waterfalls on the Lazy River™ and roll to four-foot high waves in the Surf Lagoon.

Located on International Drive, one block east of I-4 at exit 75A, Wet ‘n Wild offers extended operating hours during the summer. The park is open year-round with heated pools in the cooler months. For additional information, call (407) 351-1800 or (800) 992-9453

Disney operates two water parks at their Walt Disney World Resort, and both of them have highly creative themes. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is a mountain themed park in which you can ride a chair lift to the top of Mt. Gushmore, a 90 foot snow capped mountain. When you are at the top you have a choice of a way down: you can opt for the Summit Plummet in which you will experience a 55 mph straight down plunge or ride the Slush Gusher speed slide down the mountain.

There is also a scaled down version of the mountain, called Tike’s Peak which is perfect for young children. It is only 48 inches high.

The other Disney water park is the tropical themed Typhoon Lagoon Water Park. This park is centered on a shrimp boat named the Miss Tilly. According to the story, this boat was picked up by a typhoon and deposited a top a 95 ft. Mt Mayday. There is also a fruit packing plant which is the scene of flash flooding that propels guests on rafts down the Crush ‘n’ Gusher, a water coaster.

Besides the usual slides and tube rides, the park also features a snorkel adventure at Shark Reef, a 362,000 gallon saltwater pool. You can also body surf in a 2.25 million gallon wave pool.

And the kids are not left out of the fun either. Ketchakiddee Creek has geysers, fountains, slide and child-sized white-water rafting rides that are sure to delight the youngest members of your family. Both parks are open year-round. Single day admission to either park is $39 for adults and $33 for children ages 3 to 9.

So, don’t worry about the Florida heat, it provides a great excuse to get wet, get loose and have fun at the water parks in Orlando.

While there are many tangible benefits obtained by installing a water park, it is often the intangible ones that often may play a crucial role in the buying decision.

There is a heightened level of excitement in children seen at an aquatic playground. Squeals of joy are the norm, as children race around both cooling off, and getting beneficial exercise.

If it is within your budget spray parks provide maximum H20 fun for your children. If you have ever watched children playing at a aquatic facility you likely have observed a level of excitement typically unseen in regular day to day play. Water parks are considered by many as the pinnacle of playground fun.

Additionally playing in an interactive play environment stimulates children’s minds and keeps them active.

Another point to consider is that water parks are extremely safe. As there is zero water accumulation there is no possibility of drowning. A water park will generally be less of an investment than a swimming pool, and require less overall care and maintenance.

Elements of a water park are flexible and can be adjusted to reflect the park size, shape and surroundings. Components can be above ground, such as in the case of arches, columns or water cannons, or below ground such as a “Liquid jail” or spray products.

If you are installing a spray park for a wide age range (from 2-14) you may want to create your park in 2 distinct areas. One area can be created with components suitable for younger children such as below ground sprays, and another area for older children containing the ever popular water cannons and taller columns.

When choosing a water park supplier or manufacturer make sure components are made from durable materials, carry a substantial warranty, and are compliant with ASTM, UL, and CSA standards.

You will also have to decide whether to install a recirculation system.Factors to consider are; local water availability, regulations and restrictions, and cost of water vs ROI on installation of a recirculation system. Oftentimes a recirculation system can pay for itself in only a few years.

Installing an aquatic playground will typically also require approval from an engineer, and the services of a licensed plumber and electrician for the installation of the spray park.

Components can be controlled by an activator, controller and manifold, creating a sequenced pre-programmed release of water that can be controlled by the children. The sequence can be programmed to any number of configurations and is limited only by your imagination.

Water parks can be standalone units, or added to existing water elements such as wading or swimming pools.

If you are considering the installation of a playground for your facility, do your kids a favor and investigate the possibility of a water park!!

So you have decided on the installation of a Water Park for your facility. Congratulations! Waterparks offer some of the most enjoyable summer fun of any activity. In fact studies have indicated kids play longer and are less prone to injury in a waterpark than in many other recreational activities.

To help you make the right decision we will cover several key features you should consider to help you make the right choice.

Pricing Make sure to get several quotes from reputable suppliers before making your decision.

Warranty What warranties does the manufacturer offer? Are they onsite warranties? Who handles any warranty claims?

Quality Are high quality materials used such as stainless steel? What materials are used in the bearings? Make note that brass or bronze can leech lead particles into the water.

Compliance Are the products you are considering ASTM, UL, and CSA compliant? There are waterpark industry standards as well as electrical standards to consider and all products should be manufactured under these guidelines.

Support Does the supplier offer training and guidance throughout the sales process? Do they work with you after the installation process if assistance is needed in aspects of operations?

Operational Costs How much will the costs be to maintain and operate the park on an annual basis? Water, electrical, maintenance, etc all must be considered.

Recirculation system? You have 2 choices when installing the water park. One is to install a recirculation system and treat and re-use the water. The other is to simply drain the water to the sewers. Depending on your municipal regulations you may be obligated to recirculate the water. Check beforehand and get quotes on a recirculation system and weigh it against the ROI vs the water costs simply draining to sewers

History What is the companies history? Years in business, satisfied clients.

References It is always wise to request a couple of references although a couple of good references does not mean the distributor is the best choice!!

Place all the information in a spreadsheet with a category for each as above. Once hyou have weighed all the options for your particular circumstance and budget, you should have the perfrct choice for your aquatic playground!

Canada’s Wonderland located in the north end of Toronto Canada, is the largest theme park in the Canada, now with 15 roller coasters and numerous other high intensity rides. Wonderland is Nickolodeon-themed, with popular children’s characters such as Spongebob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer being integrated into shows and rides. A daily diving stunt show, a beautiful water park, live music and plenty of exciting rides for the young kids make Wonderland a must visit for anyone visiting Toronto.

Wonderland Rides

Aside from Wonderland’s 15 rollercoasters which is the third largest collection of coasters in North America, there are numerous other adult rides including: The Bat Roller Coaster - A steel shuttle-coaster with two loops and a cobra roll, the Dragon Fire Roller Coaster - A steel double-loop, double-corkscrew coaster with a downward helix; The Fly Roller Coaster - A wild mouse roller coaster

Italian Job: Stunt Track - A powered-launch steel coaster; Mighty Canadian Minebuster Roller Coaster - A wooden coaster with modified out-and-back layout which is Canada’s longest wooden roller coaster;

Sky Rider Roller Coaster - A steel stand-up coaster, with one loop and a downward helix; Thunder Run Roller Coater - A steel coaster with no lift; Tomb Raider: The Ride Roller Coaster - A steel flying laying down roller coaster; Top Gun Roller Coaster - A steel inverted-loop coaster with 5 inversions

Vortex Roller Coaster - A steel suspended coaster; Wild Beast Roller Coaster - A wooden, modified Bearcat/Wildcat, built by Philadelphia Toboggan Company.

The newest addition and drawing a lot of attention from coaster enthusiasts is the Behemoth. The Behemoth offers a mile of track and 7 drops. The coaster reaches speeds up to 77 miles per hour down frightening drops of 85 degrees. The coaster is easily visible from Highway 400 towering above other rides in the park. Here are some Behemoth ride statistics:

Ride Statistics for Behemoth Rollercoaster

3 32-passenger trains

8 cars, with 4 seats per car, per train

Prototype seating

Track Length: 5,318 ft

Height: 70 Metres or 230 feet.

Ride Time: 3 minutes, 10 seconds

Ride Guest Capacity: 1545 persons per hour

A simulated ride video is available.

There’s plenty for young families at Wonderland too. Kidzville offers plenty of rides for tots and a day of great fun. Kids attractions include Chopper Chase where kids can pedal around a meandering track, Scooby Doo’s Haunted Mansion where kids ride a interactive trolley chasing ghosts and Taxi Jam, a coaster designed for kids first coaster experience.

For the summer season, we can’t forget Splash Works, Wonderlands huge waterpark filled with thrilling waterslides and water coasters along with a lazy river where people can leisurely float about the park.

Canada’s Wonderland is a major theme park and there’s much more to do than you’ll be able to do in a day. Better to make it a two day adventure. It’s a major attraction for Toronto, which also draws many tourists to see the CN Tower, Skydome, Toronto Harbourfront, Eaton Centre and Toronto’s many live theatres and concert venues. Toronto is a terrific place to visit in 2008.
